“Dekotora” is the abbreviation of the word “decoration truck” and it is a type of truck which is decorated extravagantly with illustration and illumination. It is also known as “Art truck”.

It is the culture originally created by truck drivers and it was started to be widely known after the success of the movie series called “Torakku Yaro”.

Major design of “Dekotora” is in Japanese style and it has themes such as dragon, Kabuki (Japanese classical play), Ukiyoe (genre of Japanese painting). It commonly uses the flashy decoration such as parts sticking out in the front and electronic lamps. Also it uses manly catch lines such as “Otoko Hitoritabi” (man travelling alone) and “Tenka Gomen” (dismissal over the world).

Recently the design of robot animation and cute characteristic animation are seen in “Dekotra”.
